Georgian Dream Honorary Chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili has congratulated Georgia’s judo team on their world championship victory.

Bidzina Ivanishvili’s congratulatory message was published on Georgian Dream’s Facebook page.

“I congratulate you on this tremendous victory – Georgia’s judo team are world champions! This historic achievement is the result of tireless work, high professionalism and love of country.

I want to express my gratitude to each member of the national judo team, who gave their maximum effort and raised our country’s flag higher than all other flags at the world championship.

This victory gains even more special significance from the fact that Georgian male and female judokas have never before won a world championship together. Once again, I congratulate the national team and all of Georgia on this historic victory,” stated Bidzina Ivanishvili’s congratulatory message.

At the World Judo Championships taking place in Budapest, Hungary, Georgia’s team defeated South Korea 4-1 in the mixed team competition final to claim the world championship title.
