GD honorary chair hosts Ilham Aliyev and Azerbaijani delegation at Business Center
Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder and honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream party, hosted Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani delegation at the Business Center, according to the party’s press service.
Ivanishvili thanked Aliyev for his visit and noted that the friendly relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan are at their highest level, serving the interests of both countries. He highlighted the importance of deepening economic ties and fully utilizing the potential of transit corridors, noting that a close partnership aligns with the national interests of both sides.
He also expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support in maintaining stability in the South Caucasus, stressing that in a challenging security environment, joint efforts by political leaders are essential to ensure peace and economic development.
The meeting focused on cooperation in the energy and transport sectors, including joint strategic projects such as the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, which plays a key role in regional connectivity. Ivanishvili noted that Georgia remains open to Azerbaijani investments, which have been steadily increasing in recent years.
Aliyev, in turn, thanked Ivanishvili for the hospitality and described Georgia as an attractive and stable destination for investment. He emphasized the importance of bilateral projects, the energy corridor, and Georgia’s role in exporting Azerbaijani natural resources, reaffirming readiness to continue cooperation to maintain peace and stability in the region.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Economy Mariam Kvrivishvili, Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani, and Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataridze.
