Amiran Gamkrelidze: Large-scale restrictions not planned in Tbilisi
Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, says that restrictive measures are not planned to be imposed throughout the country, only pinpoint restrictions are considered.
“For example, when we have cases of infection in school, the school is not closed completely, only the class is closed and children move to self-isolation. The same model will be in kindergartens and other institutions because the pandemic will not end for a good while and we have to get used to living next to the virus”, – Gamkrelidze said.
As for the capital, Amiran Gamkrelidze says that there will be no large-scale restrictions in Tbilisi.
“Our recommendation, which we agreed on, is that there will not be large-scale restrictions in Tbilisi, only pinpoint restrictions are considered. One of the recommendations shared by the Council is that medical staff, especially ambulance, emergency department medical personnel will move to 72-hour testing”, – Gamkrelidze said after the meeting of the Coordination Council.
