Ambassador of Israel to Georgia: Israel has been living under constant existential threat from Iranian regime for last 47 years; Our goal is to remove that threat
“Israel has been living under constant existential threat from the Iranian regime for the last 47 years. We just came to a conclusion with our partners, with our allies, the United States of America, that the only way, the only solution after all diplomatic means have failed, is just to take it in this way. And we hope that it will be taken. Our goal is to remove the constant and existential threat of Iran to the state of Israel and the region,” Walid Abu Haya, Ambassador of Israel to Georgia, told the GPB’s First Channel.
According to the Ambassador, it will be necessary to change the Iranian regime to prevent the threat, and the U.S. and Israel are ready for that because there is no way back. He said he hoped the allies would achieve their goal.
“Our air force strikes are against terrorist targets and the military and political leaders of this regime. If removing this threat means also removing this regime, so let it be. Now there is no way back. The decision has been taken. We will have to remove this threat, whatever it takes, however it takes and whenever it takes. This regime has no right to continue threatening Israel and executing this terror in the region against any country, and even against innocent Iranians in the streets of Iran. We saw in January that more than 36,000 innocent Iranians, just seeking freedom, were slaughtered and massacred. I think that many millions in Iran, tens of millions of Iranians, will be happy with the removal of this threat. And if it also means removing this regime, we are happy with that.
I’m not in a position to assist with how long it takes, but I know one thing, and our Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and I think President Trump made it very clear. It can take whatever it takes, but the goal has been to be achieved. If it’s a day or weeks or even more, we are ready. We are very prepared.
In Israel’s history, all our wars were defensive wars. Israel has extended its hand for peace to those who want to live in peace in the Middle East and with Israel. We have peace with five Arab countries. We have peace in Gulf states like the UAE and Bahrain, with Morocco, with Egypt, the biggest Arab state, and with Jordan.
Those who choose the other path, the path of terror and violence and threatening the existence of the state of Israel, we cannot live with that. We have to deal with that. If diplomacy fails, we have other means to deal with that,” he said.
