Teachers of retirement age who decided to quit educational system will receive monetary reward

The teachers who have reached retirement age and made voluntary decision to quit the educational system will receive a monetary reward, – Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister of Education made this statement at the briefing after the Government Meeting today.

As Mikheil Batiashvili noted changes have been already made in the professional development scheme.

“The corresponding resolution has already entered into force. Teachers who have reached retirement age, who will make a voluntary choice to leave the educational system, will receive monetary reward from the state. In addition, they will be provided with medical insurance. About six thousand teachers have already expressed willingness to quit the system. Anyone who makes such decision will receive a monetary reward for the end of September, though the process will continue and teachers of retirement age will be allowed to leave the system by December 31”, – Minister said.

As part of the education reform, the rule of granting monetary reward to teachers of retirement age has been approved.
