“Nika Melia is a political criminal with limited intellectual abilities,” said the leader of the parliamentary majority, Chairman of the Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze. That was his answer to the question of whether the UNM leader Nika Melia is a hero, as the opposition recognises him.

“Naming Nika Melia a hero, statements like this show the nature of this political party. Comparisons with Mandela raise a smile and naturally, I cannot comment seriously.

“Everyone knows that Nika Melia is a political criminal, a political criminal with limited intellectual abilities, who has no place in politics. This is a given,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.

Chairman of the United National Movement Nika Melia was released from the pre-trial detention at the Rustavi prison on May 10 after Tbilisi City Court satisfied a motion by prosecutors to substitute the restrained with the release on bail.
