Covid-related restrictions tighten, public transport stops

Public transport will stop from August 14 to September 4, said Giorgi Ghibradze, Head of the Task Force operating, at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council. Restrictions will not apply to intercity transport. However, the government will provide regular transportation of the population to the immunization centres.

The Council decided to impose restrictions amid the worsened epidemiological situation in the country.

Festivals, concerts, and sports competitions will be restricted. Children’s entertaining centres will close. All catering facilities will work till 11 pm local time. No social events, such as wedding parties, funeral dinners, etc., are no longer allowed. Venues will be sanctioned with GEL 10,000 for hosting these-type events and be subject to sealing if found in breach of the regulation for the second time.

The government will secure tight control over the enforcement of the current regulations. The government instructed public institutions to introduce remote work for their employees to the maximum extent possible, while the private sector is highly recommended to do the same.

Ministry of Health will continue mobilization of additional hospital beds.
