Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan resigned

Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan has resigned, local media reports.

Protest rallies started in Yerevan several days ago, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan.

The Armenian parliament elected Serzh Sargsyan as the country’s new prime minister on April 17.

Serzh Sargsyan was the president of Armenia in 2008-2018. Prior to that, he was the head of the Armenian government during a year; he also served as the Defense Minister in 2000-2007.
