Anthony Fauci says coronavirus can spread via asymptomatic people

Doctor Anthony Fauci is the latest medical professional to disagree with the World Health Organization after one of its key figures said that it’s “very rare” for asymptomatic people to spread the coronavirus.

The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease told ABC’s ‘Good Morning America” on Tuesday that people who don’t have a fever, cough, chills, aches, or other signs that they may be infected with the virus COVID-19 can still transmit it to other people if they have it.

“[WHO] walked that back because there’s no evidence to indicate that’s the case,” Fauci said according to CNN.

“And we know from epidemiological studies they can transmit to someone who is uninfected even when they’re without symptoms. So to make a statement, to say that’s a rare event, was not correct.”
