Vice Speaker Volski: We must never condone violence, but France’s unrest shows how insidious the plot against Georgia was

“Of course we must never support violence or its provocation, but compare it with the reality they tried, and failed, to create in Georgia and you will see just how insidious those attempts were,” said Gia Volski, First Deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.

Volski said exactly the same scenario had been written for Georgia.

“The reasons and arguments may have been different, such as the false accusation that we were drifting into Russia’s political orbit, but the fact is that the scenario of confrontation, bloodshed and attacks on state institutions was the same. Now that all this has come crashing down on them, the double standard has kicked in, and it is plain to see. We should not support such confrontation, and we should certainly not wish it on anyone just because Paris or Macron tried to make these events happen in Georgia. That is no reason for us to gloat, but the picture has become clear. They tried the same thing in Georgia, and they are still trying today,” Volski said.
