Ex-President Saakashvili: Georgia’s opposition has become “second-hand”, and even the IRI says its only chance is to unite with me
Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said in a social media post that, according to Georgian Dream’s own polling, his rating now matches Ivanishvili and Kobakhidze’s electoral rating.
Saakashvili also claimed the opposition has turned into a so-called “second-hand” opposition.
“Great news! Even in Georgian Dream’s own latest poll, my electoral rating has caught up with those of Ivanishvili and Kobakhidze; something that hasn’t happened since 2012.
The poll put both of us at 35–36%. None of the other parties gets above 3%. That is because the opposition chose opposing me as its top priority instead of standing up fiercely to the dictatorship. It has become a second-rate, second-hand opposition, and who needs second-hand?
On top of that, even the International Republican Institute told them that their ‘only chance is to unite with Saakashvili,” Saakashvili wrote.
