Vice Speaker Volski on EP Resolution: Scenario of civil confrontation still not removed from agenda

“The part of the European Parliament’s resolution reads like a new direction of a revolutionary scenario, because none of the previous directions worked. Everyone who does not want to obey the instructions of Marta Kos, Kubilius or Juknevičienė should be punished,” Georgia’s First Vice-Speaker of Parliament, Gia Volski, said

According to him, the wording reflects a message that does not convey anything beyond this interpretation.

“The most concerning issue is that the scenario of societal confrontation has not been removed from the agenda. European foreign ministers spoke about this on Rustaveli Avenue. Through the resolution, their goal is to develop a scenario of confrontation, but now it is being done in a more refined form, which implies not only segregation of people but also the creation of new formats of confrontation,” he said.

The European Parliament resolution adopted on June 17 states: “EP calls on the Commission to establish a mechanism whereby civil society activists, journalists and students may continue to have visa-free access to the EU.”
