Using of obscene language has become jewelry, some wear jewelry in big doses, some do not wear it at all – Vasil Maghlaperidze, General Director of Georgian First Channel said in Free Vision Program.

According to Maghlaperidze, some people say that using obscene words is progress and feel proud; they believe that this represents the means for self-expression not only in media but in public space. However, “A person expresses himself/herself in the way what he/she is, and how others want him/her to see,” General Director of First Channel said.

Maghlaperidze answered the question of Tato Khundadze, Analyst of First Channel about the normalization of obscenity in the Georgian media.

General Director of First Channel said that the use of obscene language would become a practice for a while but would disappear and cease gradually. “The situation will be regulated and it is not a tragedy. People will be watching TV till they want to hear obscene words, but they will turn off their TV sets afterward. If one prohibits hearing obscenity, people will record them and will be listening to them even in empty rooms,” Maghlaperidze said.
