The United National Movement (UNM) opposition party is holding protest rallies in Georgian capital Tbilisi and Adjarian capital Batumi, demanding ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili’s transfer overseas for medical reasons.
UNM Batumi office leader, Elguja Bagrationi, said: “Georgia should be next to the civilized world, and this will not be possible if Misha’s health and life are threatened.”
The protesters called on the Georgian Dream founder and former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili to “immediately release” Mikheil Saakashvili from jail.
