Tbilisi Mayor: Despite attacks, lies, blackmail, we are obligated to do what our country needs

“Despite attacks, lies and blackmail, we are obligated to do everything that our country needs,” said Kakha Kaladze, Tbilisi Mayor.

According to Kaladze, the West sets another example of double standards by expressing readiness to hold a dialogue with Russia.

“This attitude does not concern only relations with Russia. If we recall their attitude toward laws, we will see that they prohibited us without explanation; they themselves do the same thing. They pass the same type of laws. This is another example of double standards. Despite attacks, lies and blackmail, we are obligated to do everything that our country needs,” he said.

Tbilisi Mayor wished the Ukrainian people peace when responding to a reporter’s question that Georgia has not yet recovered from the pain that the 2008 war brought to the Georgian people.

“War, in general, is a great misfortune. What is happening in Ukraine is a sad reality; there are many dead people, both civilians and fighting soldiers; cities and villages are destroyed, and infrastructure is devastated.

We, Georgians, know what the war means. We have experienced the bitterness of war many times, and even today, we cannot recover from the pain and wounds that the 2008 war left behind. It is deeply regrettable what is happening in Ukraine. I would like to wish peace to the Ukrainian people,” he said.
