Tbilisi Mayor declares MEGOBARI Act detached from Georgian people's interests
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze considers the legislative initiative MEGOBARI Act, or Mobilizing and Enhancing Georgia’s Options for Building Accountability, Resilience, and Independence Act, an unfriendly bill that reflects Deep State’s intentions.
As Kaladze told the media today, the MEGOBARI Act is detached from the interests of the Georgian people.
“I will repeat again that the MEGOBARI Act has absolutely no connection to the nation or the people’s interests. The majority of our country’s population supports the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia. The radical part of the opposition, fortunately for the Georgian people, remains a minority. Agents and traitors cannot be the majority. You will always remain where you are, and even lower. But as the capital’s mayor and a resident of this country, I am, of course, displeased that even one ordinary citizen of my country is in the situation where these radical groups currently find themselves,” the mayor said.
Regarding the specific bill, Kaladze emphasized, “This unfriendly bill represents the intentions of the Deep State. They did not like the Georgian people’s decision in the 2024 parliamentary elections and are fighting our country by every method, with all manner of dirt, lies, and unfair attitudes.”
The mayor asserted that Georgia and the Georgian people will always emerge victorious because “truth is on Georgia’s side.”
“We support President Trump and his team and hope that he will be able to defeat the Deep State,” Kaladze continued.
“If he cannot, we will, of course, continue to protect Georgia and will not allow anyone to use Georgia’s interests for their own purposes, just as we have not allowed this until now,” Kaladze asserted.
He also noted that the Georgian Dream’s pragmatic policy has brought long-term peace to the country, suggesting that without their approach, Georgia would have found itself in an even more unfortunate situation than Ukraine.
