Tbilisi Mayor: Abuse of police officers unacceptable, strengthening legislation justified
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze emphasized the importance of a strong and functioning state when asked about the legislative changes proposed by the ruling party.
He condemned attempts to discredit law enforcement and stated that insulting police officers is unacceptable.
“A state must function properly, and all institutions should work as they should. We welcome this decision because polarization, confrontation, and extremist actions are being deliberately orchestrated, including efforts to discredit the police. They blatantly distort reality, directly target law enforcement, and subject officers to verbal and physical abuse—this is categorically unacceptable. Strengthening legislation in this regard is necessary and justified,” Kaladze said.
