Mayor Kaladze: Georgia will defend its interests amid threatening statements from specific Western bureaucrats

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated that the ruling team is managing to maintain peace in Georgia despite significant challenges. He made the remarks while assessing the speech of Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili at the UN General Assembly, once again underscoring the importance of peace.

“There is no alternative to peace, not only for our country, but for the entire world. Considering current developments, it is very important to maintain peace, which we are achieving through daily struggle. This is not easy – there are different interests from major political players – but we firmly defend our country’s sovereignty, independence, and freedom, gained through the sacrifices of previous generations. All of this must be preserved and strengthened,” Kaladze said.

The mayor added that Georgia is open to friendship and partnership but stressed that it must be based on equality.

“How can we fight against Europe or America? But when we hear threatening statements from specific bureaucrats, based on lies and slander, we must protect our country and its interests. We are ready for friendship, partnership, and relations, but this must be mutual – not in the form of ‘you are a small country, I am big, and you must do what I say.’ That is not friendship or partnership,” Kaladze noted.
