German Embassy: Germany stands with Georgia, in mourning, with thoughts

German Embassy in Georgia released a statement in connection with the 18th anniversary of the August 2008 Russia-Georgia war.

According to the Embassy, Germany stands with Georgia.

“Today, we join in remembering all those soldiers and civilians who lost their lives in the 2008 war. Thousands of women, men, and children were forced to leave their homes and lost their homeland.

For many, the war is not over even today, as the loss and pain have not gone anywhere, because they cannot return to their homes, because they lost loved ones, and the memories of what they experienced remain with them.

Germany stands with Georgia. In mourning, our thoughts are with the families of the victims and with all those who continue to suffer from the consequences of the war to this day,” reads the statement.
