Speaker: Main issue is not when war started but why it started, why Saakashvili’s proxy regime engaged Georgia in war

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili believes that manipulation with dates is characteristics to agents of the United National Movement (UNM).

According to the Speaker, the main issue is not when the war started but why it started, why Saakashvili’s proxy regime engaged Georgia in war

“There wouldn’t have been a war if Saakashvili’s proxy regime hadn’t been in power in Georgia. If there had been a patriotic force similar to the Georgian Dream in power then, there wouldn’t have been a war, there wouldn’t have been destruction, there wouldn’t have been casualties. If there was no war in 2008, there would most likely be no war in Ukraine.

This is the key question they want to avoid. Then Georgia became a pawn on the chessboard of geopolitical conflict, which had to fulfil its function. Such a function was then assigned to us in the form of a proxy regime.

We should have been the pawn in the big geopolitical game, and vice versa, the situation was exactly the same in 2022. In 2022, someone wanted us to become pawns again, to engage us in a military conflict and war again, when the biggest conflict and war after the second world began on the European continent.

If in 2022, instead of the Georgian Dream, these activist political figures were in power, in the form of the National Movement and today’s activist groups, there would definitely be a war, and today we would already be a chaotic, destroyed country.

Therefore, the main issue is not when the war started but why it started, why Saakashvili’s proxy regime engaged Georgia in the war,” he said.
