State Security Service summons Itsik Moshe amid disinformation concerns

Regarding the dissemination of disinformation about alleged terrorist threats in Georgia, the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) has released a statement detailing the testimony of Itsik Moshe, who was summoned for questioning.

According to the SSSG, Moshe claimed he received information about the alleged threat from a member of the Knesset, who in turn was informed by a representative of the Knesset Ethics Commission. However, as the agency notes, Moshe was unable to name any more concrete or credible sources.

“When asked why he told media representatives that the Georgian side had been warned about the threat, Itsik Moshe denied having made such a statement. According to him, he told journalists that if such a threat were real, the Georgian side would certainly be informed,” the agency statement says.

The agency once again urged the public to refrain from spreading “absurd, irresponsible, harmful, and unverified information,” emphasizing the damaging impact such claims can have on the country.

Earlier, the SSSG issued another statement clarifying that neither Georgian nor Israeli special services had any information regarding a terrorist threat in Georgia, and therefore had not shared such information with anyone.

The statements follow media reports earlier today alleging that several Knesset members had cancelled a planned visit to Georgia due to supposed threats of terrorist attacks.
