SSSG: Neither Georgian nor Israeli agencies had any information on possible terror threat

Neither the Georgian nor the Israeli security services had any information regarding a possible terrorist threat in Georgia and therefore shared no such warnings with anyone, the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) said in a statement released on Thursday.

The SSSG responded to media reports claiming that several members of the Israeli Knesset had cancelled a planned visit to Georgia due to alleged terrorist threats.

According to the Georgian State Security Service, communication with Israeli counterparts confirmed that no such information existed.

“We are in contact with representatives of the Israeli special services, who expressed surprise at the spread of incorrect information. It is deeply regrettable and concerning that part of the Georgian media disseminates such claims without verifying them with us. We categorically urge everyone to refrain from spreading damaging and unverified information about Georgia,” the statement reads.
