Two young women detained in teacher Giga Avaliani’s murder case sent behind bars

Two young women, Nia Imnadze and Anastasia Beruashvili, detained in teacher Giga Avaliani’s murder case, were sent behind bars as a preventive measure, as Judge Mzia Garshaulishvili decided.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained Nia Imnadze and Anastasia Beruashvili on August 5.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged Nia Imnadze with instigating group intentional grievous bodily harm and Anastasia Beruashvili with failing to report an exceptionally serious offence in connection with the Giga Avaliani criminal case, the Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

Nia Imadze face up to 13 years in prison, while Ana Beruashvili faces 7 years of imprisonment if found guilty.

Giga Avaliani, a 28-year-old teacher, was attacked late at night on October 1, 2025, near the entrance to his apartment block in the Temka district of Tbilisi. The teacher sustained fatal injuries, and he died in the hospital on October 24, 2025.
