Legal Affairs Committee Chair says Baramidze betrays country interests

“What Giorgi Baramidze said is a betrayal of the country’s interests,” said Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee.

According to Gorduladze, Baramidze may be driven by the desire to damage Georgia’s interests. He remembered that the United National Movement (UNM) supported the disputable Council of Europe resolution, which said in its Article 11 that Georgian soldiers allegedly committed war crimes.

“If it were not for the Georgian Dream and the Ministry of Justice, it would not be possible to confirm in international courts that there was no violation of rights on the part of Georgia. These traitors supported these records. They are still doing the same. One of the representatives of this is Baramidze, whom Gvaramia calls long-tongued. What should we be surprised by that Baramidze, who was part of the system that operated in the country,” he said.

The General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has launched a criminal investigation into allegations of high treason and sabotage following public statements made by Giorgi Baramidze, a member of the United National Movement (UNM).

The matter concerns a statement made by Gia Baramidze, one of the leaders of the United National Movement (UNM), according to which “during the war in Abkhazia, Georgian military personnel executed prisoners, which is why the Abkhaz side refused to hand captives over.”
