State Minister Akhvlediani meets with UNDP Regional Director

State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani met with Ivana Živković, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the UN Development Programme’s Regional Bureau, the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality reported.

The State Minister thanked the Assistant Secretary-General for her strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognised borders and emphasised the role of the UN in the peace-building process.

Akhvlediani outlined the priorities, goals, and objectives of her office, focusing on reconciliation, engagement, civic equality, and integration policies. She reviewed the priorities, goals and objectives of the State Minister’s Office, both in the areas of reconciliation and engagement, and civic equality and integration policies.

At the meeting, the State Minister spoke about the progress achieved in the implementation of the reconciliation and inclusion policy and future visions, aimed at improving the socioeconomic conditions of the population affected by the conflict and to deepen dialogue and restore trust based on common interests among the artificially divided society. Additionally, she briefly reviewed the priorities, goals and objectives of the State Strategy for Civic Equality and Integration for 2021-2030, approved by the Government of Georgia.

Akhvlediani emphasised the importance of working closely with the State Minister’s Office and the United Nations Development Agency (UNDP).

The UN Assistant Secretary-General expressed support for the activities of the State Minister’s Office and expressed full readiness for future cooperation.
