Speaker: Helsinki Commission holds to obvious political agenda against Georgian people
“The Helsinki Commission holds to an absolutely obvious political agenda against the Georgian people, which is being pursued by several leaders of the Commission,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili in connection with the Commission’s February 11 meeting.
The Speaker hopes Laura Thornton, the McCain Institute’s Senior Director for Global Democracy Programs and former head of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) office in Georgia, will attend the commission meeting.
“I expect Madam Thornton to attend the meeting, and I wonder if she is going to repeat her viewpoint that Donald Trump is a sexual assailant. The Helsinki Commission, apparently, relies on the testimony of such an individual in relation to Georgia.
So, we are in a good campaign. Can the testimony against Georgia provided by the individual, who calls the U.S. President the sexual assailant, be interesting for anybody? We have no expectations. We see the Helsinki Commission’s working style. They hold to an absolutely obvious political agenda against the Georgian people, which is being pursued by several leaders of the Commission,” he said.
