Speaker: EU’s condemnation of Presidential Palace storming will strip legitimacy from EU-flag hooligans

“As soon as the EU ambassador condemns the storming of the Presidential Palace as unacceptable, those who do it with the EU flag will be stripped of Brussels’ legitimacy,” declared Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.

Papuashvili criticised the EU and its ambassador, Paweł Herczyński, for their silence regarding the events of October 4, which he described as the root cause.

“October 4 happened because of silence. Even worse was the European Commission spokesperson’s direct support for a scenario of overthrowing the government, a disaster. It’s a catastrophe that we heard support for the Nepal scenario right in the Brussels briefing room. What more has to happen for Brussels to admit that it’s leading the European Union into a civilisational abyss?

A simple question to the EU and its ambassador: why have they not condemned even once the attack on Mariam Lashkhi and her minor children? They could have stated that attacking a Georgian parliamentarian and her children is unacceptable. Why don’t they say that? They could have issued one clear statement condemning the violent storming of the Georgian presidential palace. Why not?

We call on journalists to ask the EU ambassador this question: why does he not unequivocally condemn the storming of the Georgian presidential palace, especially when those involved are supported and funded from the EU budget? The moment the EU ambassador states that such violence is unacceptable, those responsible under the EU flag will lose Brussels’ legitimacy.

Today, they dare to use violence with the EU flag in their hands, burn the Parliament, and storm the Presidential Palace because Brussels grants them legitimacy to do so. They even show photos to EU institutions as a role model, as an example of how violence should be used in protests,” Papuashvili added.
