Sozar Subari: River Nenskra is still swollen, however 90 percent of threat is lifted
Minister of Internally Displaced Persons, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia Sozar Subari, who is in the disaster zone in Chuberi village, says that 90 percent of the threat is already lifted.
As Sozar Subari told the First Channel the whole Gorge has been inspected by the helicopter and threat is already lifted, however River Nenskra is still swollen.
“The population is not in danger, but some houses are actually on the islands as the river has changed its bed. Almost every bridge has been swept away, “- Sozar Subari said.
“Population has been pulled up from danger zones, everyone is safe. There are six people left in the mountains, we are in contact with them”, – he said.
he natural disaster hit Mestia district of Svaneti region. Due to heavy rain the part of mountain in Chuberi collapsed which caused flooding of river Nenskra. Chuberi village and several other settlements are remaining cut off from the rest of the world.
