Structural units of the Georgian Defense Forces continue clean-up and rescue efforts at the territory of cottages in the Shovi landslide-hit area. The Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) coordinates the ongoing works.

The military personnel from the Eastern and Western Commands, combat-engineering units, the Logistics Support Command, and the 102nd Territorial Defense Battalion of the 10th Cadre Brigade of the National Guard are involved in the efforts.

Temur Mghebrishvili, Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service, said two dead bodies were found on August 9 while rescue efforts continue at 9 locations. Twelve people are still missing.

According to Irakli Karseladze, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, the second temporary bridge is installed across the Tchantchakhi River. The bridge enabled the dispatch of heavy vehicles. An alternative road leading to Ferrum waters allowed the launch of the clean-up works at the territory.

The death toll in the landslide that struck Shovi resort of the Oni Municipality on August 3 rose to 21.
