Oni Mayor: Search efforts for two missing persons continue

Oni Municipality Mayor Sergo Khidesheli said that search efforts for two missing persons of the deadly landslide in Shovi resort continue. Dead bodies of 29 deceased persons are identified.

According to Sergo Khidesheli, units of the Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry, Defense Forces, the Red Cross and Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) are involved in the search effort at the disaster epicentre riverbeds and Ambrolauri territory.

The death toll in the landslide-ravaged Shovi resort of the Oni Municipality rose to 31 on August 24.

Two people are still missing, and rescue efforts continue at various locations, including the Rioni and Chanchakhi riverbeds. Heavy vehicles, human resources, and a team of cynologists are involved in the efforts.

A deadly landslide struck the resort on August 3.
