Rescue efforts expand in landslide-ravaged Shovi

Rescue efforts in the landslide-ravaged Shovi resort of the Oni Municipality expanded to the Rioni and Chanchakhi riverbeds.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), rescue efforts continue non-stop for the 17th day. Heavy vehicles, human resources and the team of cynologists are involved in the rescue efforts.

The death toll in the landslide-ravaged Shovi resort of the Oni Municipality rose to 27 on August 17.

Six people are still missing. A deadly landslide struck the resort on August 3.
