The Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, and First Deputy Public Defender Tamar Gvaramadze met with the Ambassadors of Great Britain, France, and Germany on December 6, as reported by the Public Defender’s Office.
During the meeting with Gareth Ward (Ambassador of Great Britain), Sheraz Gasri (Ambassador of France), and Peter Fischer (Ambassador of Germany), the Public Defender discussed recent developments in Georgia and outlined the activities undertaken by the Office.
Key issues highlighted included cases of police violence and ill-treatment, the conditions of detainees and individuals injured during protests, and the Office’s ongoing visits to temporary detention centers and clinics. The Public Defender also emphasized the monitoring of investigations conducted by the Special Investigation Service.
According to the Office, it operates in emergency mode, responding promptly to hotline reports of human rights violations. It continues to provide updates to the public, international organizations, and diplomats about the unfolding situation.
