The Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, met with parents of children suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, who have been petitioning the Government Administration for nearly a month to provide their children with appropriate medication and treatment. The Public Defender’s Office has issued a statement.
“The Public Defender emphasises the vital importance of safeguarding the right to health for children with disabilities, including those with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
During the meeting, the Public Defender detailed the steps his Office has taken to address their concerns and offered assistance, within its capabilities, in mediating with the relevant authorities to ensure that the process prioritises the children’s best interests. He also discussed issues relating to freedom of expression and reiterated his call on the authorities to promote the protection of this fundamental right,” the statement reads.
