PM stresses need to confront destructive parties through constitutional means
“Our nation yearns for peace, the restoration of its democratic foundations, and the legal action we are preparing, based on the findings of the investigative commission, serves precisely this aim,” stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to journalists.
According to Kobakhidze, certain parties within the country, those whose actions are consistently aimed at undermining stability, are endeavouring to obstruct the development of a healthy political and democratic system. He emphasised that this needs to be opposed through constitutional methods.
“In the coming days, everyone will see that the lawsuit is being prepared and will soon be submitted to the Constitutional Court. Our country needs peace; it requires the renewal of its democratic order, and this constitutional lawsuit is a vital step in that direction. You are aware that some political parties within our system are persistently working against democratic principles, with every action aimed at destabilising the system. They are trying to prevent Georgia from establishing a robust and healthy democratic environment, and addressing this challenge requires us to act through constitutional means. This is exactly what the forthcoming lawsuit, which will be filed with the Constitutional Court, embodies,” Kobakhidze explained.
The Georgian Dream government intends to submit the lawsuit, based on the investigative commission’s conclusions, to the Constitutional Court in the near future.
