Georgian and Turkish Interior Ministers meet in Tbilisi

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, hosted his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Çiftçi, at the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Tbilisi during an official delegation visit.

The Georgian Interior Minister held an expanded-format meeting with the Turkish Minister and members of his delegation. The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister Roni Meskhi, Deputy Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, and heads of various ministry departments.

“During the meeting, the parties discussed close and fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye, outlining future priorities to deepen bilateral ties. Particular emphasis was placed on joint efforts to combat organised crime.

The Interior Ministers of Georgia and the Republic of Türkiye underscored the importance of further strengthening existing ties and expressed full readiness for their continued development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye thanked his Georgian counterpart for the invitation and the productive discussions, and extended an invitation for a reciprocal visit to Türkiye.

As part of the visit, both ministers laid a wreath at the memorial located on the ministry grounds, honouring police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
