“Modern legal principles were historically developed in England, yet today, in a country with such traditions, people are being subjected to measures practically equivalent to criminal sanctions—without any evidence or facts. This is a tragic event,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in Antalya, responding to a question about British sanctions.
He added that, given England’s legal legacy, the Georgian government can only express regret.
“This is simply unprecedented. I repeat—this is the country of John Locke and other great thinkers. It is tragic that, in a nation with such a profound legal tradition, such measures are being imposed without any evidence or facts. Considering the history of Great Britain, we can only express our regret,” Kobakhidze stated.
