Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili took part in “A Democracy Fit for the Future,” the round-table discussion held within the framework of the 4th Summit of Leaders in Reykjavík, Iceland, on Tuesday.

Irakli Garibashvili spoke about global challenges. He stressed that despite challenges, democracy in Georgia is sustainable because the country is committed to the values which are the basis for democracy – freedom, equality, and supremacy of law.

The PM underscored the government’s efforts to strengthen democratic institutions and human rights to fit the EC’s 12-point recommendations. He said that Georgia reached progress and anticipated relevant assessment from the European Union.

The Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe is underway in Reykjavík on May 16–17, 2023. It is the fourth time in the 74-year history of the organization that the leaders of the member states meet under the auspices of the Council.
