Georgia struck by dual earthquakes in under an hour as 4.2 and 3.0 magnitude tremors hit Javakheti
Georgia has been struck by two earthquakes occurring within approximately an hour of each other.
According to data released by the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the initial tremor was recorded at 08:52 Tbilisi time.
The first quake, which measured magnitude 4.2, was centred near the village of Bezhano, 20km north-east of Akhalkalaki.
A second earthquake hit shortly after at 09:09 Tbilisi time.
This epicentre was located near the village of Alatuman, 18 kilometres north of Akhalkalaki, registering a magnitude of 3.0.
