Photo of Mestia among 15 best ones in international competition

The photo of Mestia, Snaneti region, ranked among the 15 best ones out of 245 thousand photos during an annual international photo competition Wiki Loves Monuments. The competition is organised worldwide by Wikipedia community members with the help of local Wikimedia affiliates across the globe.

Georgia has participated in the photo competition for the last 2 years. In 2016, the 6 929 photos of Georgian cultural monuments were posted in Wikipedia, in 2017 – 2 052.

In the 2017 edition, more than 245,000 photos of built heritage sites around the world, from Agra to Zagreb, were submitted to our 54 national competitions. By participating, the more than 10,000 photographers donated their images to be used on Wikipedia and sister projects, giving a beautiful spark to free knowledge.
