Parliament to vote on setting up fact-finding commission on April 18

Georgian parliament will hold the vote on the establishment of a fact-finding commission into the case of sanctioned judges at the plenary sitting on April 18, opposition MP Khatuna Samnidze said.

According to Samnidze, the opposition will apply to the Parliament Bureau to put the issue on the agenda; she also urged the lawmakers to “put everything aside” and unite.

“Five female opposition MPs, Tamar Kordzaia, Teona Akubardia, Ana Natsvlishvili, Salome Samadashvili, and I accepted the responsibility of contacting every opposition MP and ensuring their attendance in the session hall on Tuesday,” she said.

On April 10, the opposition applied to President Salome Zourabichvili with the request to convene the extraordinary session on April 11. Later the same day, the opposition asked the President to cancel the sitting because of the absence of MPs Ana Tsitlidze and Levan Khabeishvili.
