MP Samnidze hopes all opposition MPs vote for fact-finding commission's establishment

Opposition MP Khatuna Samnidze said five lawmakers personally contacted all opposition MPs and received their confirmation to attend the plenary sitting and take part in the vote on the establishment of a fact-finding commission into the case of the US-sanctioned judges.

Khatuna Samnidze explained that the initiative requires 50 votes. Five female opposition MPs, Tamar Kordzaia, Teona Akubardia, Ana Natsvlishvili, Salome Samadashvili, and Khatuna Samnidze, took the responsibility to communicate with every opposition MP to ensure their attendance in the session hall on Tuesday.

“I don’t expect surprises. Anything can happen, but we are all agreed, including with the United National Movement (UNM) members, so if anyone breaks the promise, they will be accountable to the society,” Samnidze said.

On April 10, the opposition applied to President Salome Zourabichvili with the request to convene the extraordinary session on April 11. Later the same day, the opposition asked the President to cancel the sitting because of the absence of MPs Ana Tsitlidze and Levan Khabeishvili.
