MP Samnidze on candidate status: Some opposition politicians send other messages to international partners, preventing decision-making

If someone believes that it’s better for our country to delay the decision on the status rather than to announce the status now, they should express this publicly and not to international partners, MP from the opposition Khatuna Samnidze said during a TV Pirveli program.

Samnidze highlighted that there has been longstanding information indicating that specific opposition figures are hindering Georgia from obtaining candidate status, and these efforts have intensified recently, as confirmed by international partners.

She emphasized that the critical goal is for the country to attain its status, regardless of the current government.

“There are politicians in the opposition currently sending other messages to our international partners, hindering the decision-making process. I’m stating this on air for the first time; this information has been circulating for a while, and in recent days, it has gained strength. We have received more information from our international partners confirming this.

I want to ask our colleagues through your television program to come out and say this publicly, to convey their position to the public if they think it is correct. They know that this position is wrong,” said Khatuna Samnidze.
