The Georgian Parliament is discussing the issue of President Salome Zourabichvili’s impeachment following the Constitutional Court’s ruling that the president has violated the Constitution of Georgia by travelling on international visits without the government’s authorization.
President Zourabichvili is present at the session. She will have 15 minutes to address the lawmakers and ask them questions.
The Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, Irakli Kobakhidze is delivering a speech as the rapporteur. The opposition United National Movement (UNM) boycotted the session.
The Constitutional Court on October 16 ruled President’s violation of the Constitution. After this, the process moved to the legislature. The parliament needs the support of 100 MPs to impeach the president.
