Papuashvili on France: When you back violence elsewhere, you get the same violence at home

“We remember Macron’s statements backing the violent mob that tried to burn down the Georgian Parliament. When you sow the wind in another country, you reap the whirlwind in your own,” said Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.

He said France is now facing assaults on state institutions on its own soil.

“That is how the world works. In the end, whoever sows evil reaps the same in their own home. At the same time, what we have seen is police brutality. A person’s hand was torn off; a child, a minor, lost an eye. A young man’s jaw was broken and smashed. What we are witnessing is, in effect, a bloody chronicle from the streets of Paris. This violence must end. We do not behave the way some European governments do, watching violence in another country with glee and then encouraging it. Of course this violence must end. But every government should know this: when you support violence elsewhere, you will get the same violence at home,” Papuashvili said.
