Opposition MP: Revolution to be solution if elections lose sense

“When the government does not intend to depart through elections, appoints the chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC), does not reform the judiciary, and holding election loses sense in the country, then the revolution is the solution to the usurpation of the government”, said opposition MP Roman Gotsiridze.

Journalists asked Roman Gotsiridze to comment on Zurab Japaridze, leader of the Girchi – More Freedom party, saying he often spoke about a revolution with students at his tutorials.

According to Gotsiridze, peaceful revolutions took place in Georgia, Armenia and many countries.

“People would feel and decide which form they choose to oust the pro-Russian force from the governance through the elections, or if elections were rigged… Therefore, do not fear the word ‘revolution.’ We have seen the revolution in Georgia, and nobody plans an armed raid in the parliament,” he said.

The opposition MP added that the government would have to hold early elections following large-scale protests.

“When the government is forced to appoint early elections, it means it is over. Therefore, revolution does not always mean giving up the government without elections,” he said.
