NCDC to urge for stricter monitoring at eateries, rapid vaccination

Head of the National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health (NCDC), Amiran Gamkrelidze, urged stricter monitoring at the restaurants and hospitality facilities. The NCDC Head recommended using outdoor spaces for sports activities.

Gamkrelidze also focused on the availability of vaccines in the country and called for active immunization. According to the official, vaccination of over one million and 250 thousand citizens would be decisive to stop the pandemic.

On top of that, Amiran Gamkrelidze added that employees of the shopping malls, markets, teachers and police officers, who are subject to mandatory regular testing, would be tested at the expense of the state only if fully vaccinated from September 15.

Speaking at the news briefing following the Interagency Coordination Council, the NCDC Head said the epidemiologists would allow the education process to resume from September 15 only if the test-positivity rate stands below 4 per cent.

Georgia reported 6 208 coronavirus cases, 3 539 recoveries, and 47 deaths on Tuesday.
