UNM’s Pharulava: Society knows who was responsible for opposition failing in 2024
United National Movement member Lasha Pharulava said the public knows why the opposition failed to unite at the most decisive moment.
According to Pharulava, Nika Gilauri played a significant role in weakening the opposition in 2024.
“When the families and parents of political prisoners call on us to unite, this is fundamentally important to us. What happened in 2024 was not only a political mistake; in fact, it led to the strengthening of Ivanishvili and the weakening of the democratic opposition. Everyone understood this and everyone heard about it, and Nika Gilauri played a particularly significant role in this.
“We are no longer going to continue discussing this issue. The public knows very well whose responsibility it was that the opposition failed to unite at the most decisive moment,” Pharulava said.
According to Pharulava, the questions raised by the UNM were addressed to Nika Gilauri, but Nika Gvaramia spoke instead of Gilauri.
“We raised a question regarding Nika Gilauri, and Nika Gilauri himself should speak about it. What is important to us now is for unity to be achieved, including in terms of opposition to Ivanishvili. For this common struggle, as always, we will contribute our resources. Not only our resources — I will fight to the end, until victory.
“However, the question has been raised and it has a specific addressee, who should answer it. The addressee was Nika Gilauri, but Gvaramia was answering us instead of Gilauri. This issue is closed for us; the public knows everything,” Pharulava said.
Pharulava also said that Nika Gvaramia’s accusations against the UNM amounted to defamation, but added that the issue was now closed.
“The public knows everything very well. Behind all of this is Ivanishvili’s shadowy hand, which was meddling in order to achieve the breakup and fragmentation of the opposition.
“For us, unity around principles has always been important, and we will continue to stand together with our society around these principles and values. Unity around principles and values is what society demands.
“We, as a people’s party, are ready to unite against Ivanishvili’s corrupt and criminal regime with everyone who wants to fight, rather than with those who want the money of banking oligarchy,” Pharulava said.
