National Food Agency searches for specific batches of baby food products based on notification from Danone Nutrition
The National Food Agency received a notification from the multinational Danone Nutrition company on the removal of specific batches of baby food products from the consumer market.
The request is linked to prevention measures as per the requirements of the new guideline from the European Food Safety Authority (ESFA) and not a violation of food safety standards.
“On February 2, 2026, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) set a low limit for cereulide in baby food. During the production period, Danone’s products were in full compliance with European Union regulations.
However, due to high responsibility and considering this fact, the importer of Danone Nutrition brand products in Georgia – Georgian Info Service Company (Registration No. 211357850) – made an immediate decision to contact the distributor and register the batches in store.
According to the preliminary data, no products from the aforementioned batch are found in the warehouse. If found, the food will be sealed for further response, while the National Food Agency will inform the society about its findings.
Cereulide is a toxin produced by some strains of Bacillus cereus and causes vomiting, diarrhea and weakness,” the National Food Agency said in its statement.
