Kaladze on possible EU visa-free suspension: Attempt to punish Georgian people; care for Georgia is lie
“This is an attempt to punish the Georgian people,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated regarding the possible cancellation of visa liberalisation with the European Union and the August 31 deadline for fulfilling conditions set by the EU for Georgia’s government.
As Kakha Kaladze noted in his conversation with journalists, all statements claiming they care about the Georgian people are false and serve their own interests.
“This is simply an attempt to punish the Georgian people. Don’t think they have any good interests regarding Georgia. The statements we hear are absolutely all false. As if they’ve gone crazy over Georgia and care about the Georgian people. Don’t believe it, friends. This is a very big lie, a falsehood. If they were truly real friends, they wouldn’t call on the country to join sanctions, wouldn’t pass resolutions about this, and there wouldn’t be blackmail of the Prime Minister and party chairman in offices regarding opening a second front,” Kakha Kaladze declared.
According to the Tbilisi Mayor, major states have their own interests, and Georgia must continue pragmatic politics.
“They have their own interests, and this is understandable. It’s politics, they are big countries, they have their own interests, but we have sense. We must not allow anyone to use our small country for some big country’s interests. Accordingly, the pragmatic politics that Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia implements must continue,” Kakha Kaladze declared.
