Geostat: Annual inflation reaches 5.6% in August 2026

Georgia’s inflation rate stood at 0.4% in August 2026 compared to the previous month, while annual inflation reached 5.6%, according to data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to Geostat, annual core inflation stood at 3.8% in August, compared with the same month of the previous year. The annual core inflation rate excluding tobacco was 3.6%.

The main contributors to the monthly inflation rate were changes in prices in the following groups:

Transport: Prices in the group increased by 2.2%, contributing 0.27 percentage points to monthly inflation. Prices rose for the operation of personal transport equipment by 2.6% and transport services by 2.5%.

Clothing and footwear: Prices in the group decreased by 2.5%, contributing -0.1 percentage points to monthly inflation. Prices fell for both clothing, by 2.5%, and footwear, by 2.4%, according to Geostat.
